No — most Kress models use RTK satellite navigation, which means no wire needs burying around your lawn. The robot uses a small base station and GPS-style positioning to know exactly where it is at all times. Setup is faster, cleaner, and far more accurate than older wire-based systems.
Yes, though it depends on the model. The standard EyePilot 2WD handles slopes up to 40% (22°), which covers the majority of residential gardens. If your garden is steeper than that, the EyePilot 4×4 is designed specifically for challenging terrain — it uses four-wheel drive and an articulated body to handle slopes up to 84% (40°), which is very steep indeed.

Most installs take half a day to a full day depending on the size and complexity of your garden. Because there's no perimeter wire to bury, the process is much quicker than older systems. We set up the base station, configure the mowing zones, connect the robot to your Wi-Fi and the app, do a test run, and walk you through everything before we leave.
Kress robots are rated IPX5 weatherproof — they'll keep going in light rain without any issues. You can also set them to pause in heavy rain and resume automatically when it clears. For most of the year a Kress robot will just get on with it regardless of the British weather.
Robot mowers work best cutting little and often — typically every day or every other day. Because they only take a tiny slice off each time, the clippings are so fine they fall back into the lawn as a natural fertiliser. The result is a consistently dense, green lawn that actually improves over time. Most of our customers say their lawn looks better than it ever did when they were mowing weekly.
Kress robots are very quiet — far quieter than a traditional mower, and quieter than most conversation. You can run them early morning or in the evening without any issues. Neighbours often don't even notice they're there.
Yes. Kress robots support multi-zone mapping, so if you have a front garden, back garden, and a side lawn, the robot can be programmed to cover all of them on a schedule. Complex shapes, narrow passages, and awkward corners are all handled well. When we install, we set up the zones specifically for your garden layout.
Very little. The blades are small replaceable razors that typically need swapping every 1–3 months depending on lawn size — it takes about two minutes. Beyond that, an occasional rinse with a hose and an annual service check is all that's needed. We offer servicing from our Dorchester workshop if you ever need us.
The listed price covers the robot mower and charging station only — installation is quoted separately as it varies depending on your garden size and layout.
